Dan is an adventurer who has a deep appreciation and respect for the world’s natural wonders and life in its many varied forms. He has climbed, skied, sailed, SCUBA dived, and traveled throughout the world. After a successful 30 year career in public finance, he is working to help develop a greater appreciation of our marine environments through underwater photography, publishing, and travel.
When he is not underwater photographing he enjoys back country skiing, distance running, mountain biking, and opera. Everett, Washington is home base and where he and his wife raised two sons.
He holds an MBA in international finance and has sat on boards for United Way of Snohomish County and Housing Hope. Additionally, he is an active supporter of the Pacific Northwest Underwater Photographers Society, Seattle Opera, Washington Ceasefire, and Family and Friends of Victims of Violent Crimes.

In addition to these talks, Dan is frequently asked to present trip reports of recent visits to global diving, skiing, and travel destinations recently visited.
Two significant events continue to shape the lives of his wife and himself: 1.) Son James' mechanical and bioengineering patents and studies at Loyola Marymount and Stanford Universities, and subsequent hiring by Apple Computers; and 2.) The 2006 murder of eldest son Jay during his senior year at university, and the decade long trial, conviction, and appeal process of the youg man who shot him.
